Sun City
Overview
Sun City, the premier entertainment resort of southern Africa, lies in the bowl of an extinct volcano in the Bushveld of South Africa’s North West Province.
There are a number of walking trails through the botanical gardens - a sanctuary for many rare bird and plant species. If the African bush and the Big 5 are your thing, then visit the Pilanesberg National Park. Close to the entrance to Sun City is Kwena Gardens, home to over 8 000 Nile crocodiles.
Sun City’s Valley of the Waves has five exhilarating waterfall rides incorporated into the area. Here, adrenaline junkies head for the Temple of Courage with its 233 foot drop. If that is not enough, then there is the world’s longest, highest foefie (zip) slide.
There are a wide variety of activities for all sports enthusiast, including tennis, squash, parasailing, water and jet skiing. And there are two tough championship golf courses.
The golf car only Lost City layout features the par-3 13 th green, which is surrounded by a pit of crocodiles. But, for most, the real thrill is the Gary Player Golf Course, which hosts the annual Nedbank Golf Challenge.
